Algorithmic Mediations for Agonism is a book whose purpose is to share notes and reflections, as well as the methods and processes developed by the Design and Agonism Group at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Chile. The book presents a conceptual introduction and a brief bibliographical discussion of the role that technical media could play in the fields of design and architecture, once we acknowledge the possibility that they can transcend their purely professional scope to become, alternatively, creative practices for critical and/or analytical inquiry.
The book also argues that speculative research – as an alternative to the academic canon – can meet and intertwine with artistic practices, giving way to an exploration of how media cultures might now shape design fields and thus the material spaces they model.
Finally, the book concludes with a brief visual catalog of the processes the group developed around all these questions.
